Photographing nature photography is one of my favorite genres. being in nature allows me to let go of the stress and rigidity of the city. I found this blue jay feather laying on a lichen coated rock about 3 miles past the entrance to the Colorado Trail at the head of Waterton Canyon. Blue birds have been considered signs of joy and hope, or a coming of happiness for those fortunate to catch a sight of these bright and cheery birds.
ReTurns Tuesdays was a weekly event that took place in Fort Collins CO at a small hole in the wall venue called Hodi's Halfnote. A wonderful gathering place of all the local heads, bass faces, and all music lovers really. It was sadly lost to the Pandemic of 2020, but its memory lives on in our hearts.
Explorers in a strange land, stumble upon whispers, flashes of people rushing by. The bustle of laborers, the steady, almost ringing hum of the machinery pumping out a plethora of industrial consumer goods. The smell of industry and burning coal fill the corridors, the giant ventilation fans struggling to exhaust the fumes of production. The images fade. The explorers now see only the ruins of the past, quiet - constant, yet crumbling slowly under the progression time. Time we created - they think. The first twinkle of dawn emerges through the east windows. The explorers take one last solemn look around the factory before heading back to their ropes in the elevator shaft where they made the slow ascent back to the roof to make their discreet exit.
I have always loved sunflowers. They are my second favorite behind the Lily of the Valley. Traveling all across Colorado I have seen them everywhere. I have always seen them as a sign of peace and calm. Lounging in the sun and following its path across the sky, they remind me of the forest spirits my Nana would tell me about when I was little. They are magical. Plus the seeds are pretty delicious!
Camping brings the opportunity for one to commune with nature. Escaping the noise of the city and settling into the quiet of the mountains forests. We came from nature and in it we can still find magic, healing, and peace. Always make time for nature. She does love us.
